Battersea juniors Viktor Stoyanov and CM Shreyas Royal started their campaigns at the European Youth Team Chess Championships reprenting today.
Viktor (2198 Fide) was heavily-outgraded in his U18s round 1 match and lost to 2317-rated youngster Dejan Omerjan as England lost 2.5-1.5.
Shrez, however, pulled off a stunning win in the U12 Open as England thrashed Germany 4-0 despite being outgraded on every board.
