We hate to blow our own trumpet… well, actually that’s not true.
But Battersea’s teams are currently on a run of 18 matches unbeaten across all six divisions of the London Chess League.
Yes, from the top to the bottom we are racking up the wins. The last match reported was a thumping 7-1 win for Bill Drennan’s LL3 team over Wanstead & Woodford.
Club stalwart Steve Barry pointed out we are:
- currently on a run of 18 matches unbeaten (16 wins, 2 draws);
- the 1st/2nd/3rd teams have won 14 matches in a row;
- we have 8 members in the top 24 of player rankings.
Our first team currently has a perfect 4/4 record in division 1, our second team has done even better with 6/6 and our third team has 7/8.
All three teams are poised for glory.
Our Major team is the only team that has struggled with 2/5 while our Minor is in a title race and unbeaten with 4/5.
