Two exciting events are planned this April and May specifically run by and for our female members.
Battersea Women will welcome Hammersmith Women on Tuesday 25th April, before playing She Plays To Win on Tuesday 30th May. Both events will be held at Battersea Labour Club.
Hammersmith Women return to Falcon Road renewing the long-standing and friendly rivalry between our clubs. The evening starts at 6.30pm with an informal chess book study group — all visitors can join our club members’ studies or bring their own book or device.
At 7.30pm the main event kicks off, with social games for all visitors as well as a 75+15 classical match. Battersea’s women and girls will be looking to crush the opposition for the second year in a row.
We look forward to welcoming She Plays To Win next month. SPTW is a UK Girls Chess Project led by England Women’s Coach IM Lorin D’Costa to encourage more girls to participate and learn chess in a fun environment. The match will be preceded by a study class offered to all by IM D’Costa.
With more events coming in the next months for all players, we are excited to promote women’s chess.
