Dust off your diaries and get ready to start being evasive if someone asks for your time on a weeknight.
Yes, it’s that time again when the London Chess League fixtures get released.
Vic Rumsey, long-time Battersea member and the league’s fixture organiser, has been beavering away trying to put together the list and make sure there are no nasty clashes.
And here are all our games – including the Central London League ones – in all their glory.
Battersea start off with a challenging first night on October 3 with a trio of teams in action, two of which play against each other in the first LCL match to be played at the Labour Club.
It means the Battersea 2 and Battersea 3 captains, Malcolm Dancy and Tim Wells respectively, will need to thrash out who plays for who while Leon Watson’s Minor team will have to make sure it can field a full team.
Not easy – but it should be a lot of fun.
Then on October 10 Arnold Hunt’s Major team make their bow against local rivals Streatham & Brixton at our home venue.
The following night Chris Beckett’s first team play their first match away to Athenaeum.
In all there will be a total of 12 home fixtures played at the Battersea Labour Club on Tuesdays by our various teams this season meaning members won’t have to travel into central London so much.
However the vast majority of games will be played in Zone 1 with most matches taking place on Wednesday nights at the league’s new venue in Holborn.

And for all Battersea’s fixtures, including Central London League games, club nights and all club events, keep an eye on the club calendar here.
Meanwhile, some of our players have been taking this very seriously. Here’s what Howard has been up to in preparation for the new season:
Thanks to a cancelled class @FitnessfirstCJS I got to #spin to my own mix originally for @JadeyM85 – glad to burn 500+ cals to it at last!
