Steve Barry finished joint winner of the Kidlington under-145 near Oxford last weekend with 4/5, a fine victory in a field of 47.
Previously a member of Battersea in the 1960s and 1970s, Steve rejoined this season after retiring from full-time work.
Showing his enthusiasm for the club, he regularly travels in from Harwell in Oxfordshire to play for the London League third team.
Kidlington is one of the most popular weekenders in the South-East and was sold out a week in advance. Altogether, four club members played in the congress.
All the others turned in solid performances – Joe Skielnik scored 2.5/5 and Bill Drennan, returning to his native county, 2/5 in the under-180 and Tim Allen 2.5/5 in the under-120.
