Dear Battersea Chess Club members, you are invited to our annual general meeting on Tuesday, July 19 from 7.30pm.
This is the moment we get together to review the year gone, organise the club and, hopefully, improve it for the coming year. The club’s membership year runs from August to August and there is much to discuss and agree upon for 2022/2023! Topics we usually cover include:
- Election of officers (chairman, secretary, treasurer & team captains)
- Club tournaments (improvements to the Grand Prix/Club Championship etc)
- Subscriptions fees and finances (your subs up or down)
- League entries (are we running too many/too few teams?)
- Junior initiatives (do we have volunteers to help us here?)
But there is always more. Alan and I will be drawing up an agenda soon. If you have any particular issues you wish to be discussed, please contact me here and we will find a place for them.
Also, please think about getting involved in the club. We need new energy. We need new candidates for chairman, secretary and treasurer. We will also need a new first-team captain. The search is on!
Unfortunately, my notes from last year’s meeting are yet to be a) found after my house move, and; b) turned into minutes, but once they are they will be circulated.
Many of you are new to the club and you are welcome to join in the discussion. This is your chance to help shape the club going forward and meet fellow members.
We hope you can attend.
Yours, sincerely,
Leon (secretary) and Alan (chairman).
