Duncan Kerr put the “Kerr” in Christmas last night as he unwrapped the opposition in our festive rapidplay tournament.
Duncan was the clear winner with 4.5/5 after beating Ted Udale in a nervy final round.
Conor Gay and club stalwart Tony Ashby finished tied for second on 4 points and Ted, Paul Stokes and Tim Valentine, with a very strong performance, all finished on 3/5.
Duncan goes Kerr-azy
The event, our last before Christmas, saw several newcomers taking part and was also filmed for a forthcoming article in SWLondoner.co.uk.
Other notable results included first graded wins for Peter Yusoff, Nereida Perdomo and the youngsters Aryan Dhawan and Joshua Holliday.
Apologies to anyone who turned up late and couldn’t play – organising it involved needing to have the names in advance.
The event was scheduled as a test before our big Four Season Rapid grand prix-style tournament starts in the New Year.
If anyone has any comments about how to run it better, please let us know.
Merry Chessmas: The results
Please note: Malcolm Dancy (rapid 122 ECF) replaced Jordan Marhan-Winsor from Round 3 onwards.
