‘Tis the season to be jolly – and this year Battersea Chess Club has a very special gift for you.
The club’s annual Blitz Tournament returns just before Christmas with a 9-round Swiss extravaganza.
It is the first time we’ve held this competition since 2019 and this year it is being organised by new member James Toon, to whom we give great thanks.

At stake is the title of club blitz champion, currently held by our speed chess champ Adam Bukomjemski. Here’s how he won it last time.
The event will take place on Tuesday, 20 December. It is a 9-round Swiss with a time control of 3 + 2.
It will be ECF-rated, meaning entrants need to have at least an ECF bronze-level membership.
Please email Tournament Controller James Toon in advance to register your entry. All entries have to be in by 19 December.
This event is strictly for Battersea members only. However, if you wish to become a member, you can do so here.
