It was a brilliant event two years ago – Battersea and Hammersmith fielded 15 boards for an inter-club friendly match dubbed El Chessico.
Now it’s back for la segunda parte: El Chessico 2.
Battersea and Hammersmith, that loudmouth bunch of upstarts from the A4 flyover, will face-off in a mid-season friendly at our venue on November 6.
Both sides are hoping to field as many boards as possible. So, if you’re a Battersea player you’re invited to play. Our captain this time will be Gregg Hutchence.
If you want to play, stick your name on this Doodle: https://doodle.com/poll/32nfkmazd4hneyuy
It will be a friendly, but games will be graded. If you want to start working towards a grade this is the perfect opportunity to get paired with someone at the right level.
And there will be a second leg at a date to be confirmed.
Last time around the match at Battersea ended in a 7-5 loss while there return at Hammersmith ended 7-7 leaving our rivals as series victors. And they haven’t shut up about it since.
Who will triumph this time?
