Bao Nghia Dong reigned supreme in Battersea’s Contest of Kings for the second year running, we can belatedly report.
In a repeat of last year’s final, Bao showed his exceptional all-round skills to down speed demon Adam Bukomjemski by 34 points to 20.
It followed 15 grueling games of 5+3 blitz, then 5+2 blitz and then 1+1 bullet in our multi-format tourney.
Bao, from Vietnam, had played Adam last year but took home the £200 top prize again having beaten Alex Makarov, Mike Healey and Victor Stoyanov to get to the final.
The Contest of Kings will return next year with more pretenders to the throne.
