Battersea’s first Fide blitz tournament ended in a thrilling tie between Blair Connell and Thomas Bonn.
The pair finished locked on 7.5 points after the 9-round Swiss competition and the subsequent tie-breaker also ended in a draw.
It meant the pair shared the honours in the first of what we hope will become a regular event.
Battersea junior Viktor Stoyanov finished in joint third with Jonny Pein to pick up the top junior prize.
Fifty-five players took part in the free tournament held on our normal club night.
They included two masters, IM Adam C Taylor and FM David Moskovic and a host of newer, ungraded players and juniors.
In total, there were 16 players rated above 2000 Fide and 11 with no previous Fide registrations and 20 without a Fide blitz rating.
The event was organised and overseen by national arbiter Rejean Dupuis and if there is demand for more we may put on another… stay posted.
