Tonight we have one hell of a contest, a Contest of Kings!
Yes tonight eight of our top players will joust for the title of King of Battersea in the first round of our new winner-takes-all tournament.
This is a knock-out, to be played over a three-week period. Contestants simply go from six to four to two and a winner.
It is a thoroughly modern match format that’s a marathon of fast time controls.
We have:

They will play the following rounds in order:
- 90 minutes of 5+3 Blitz
- 60 minutes of 3+2 Blitz
- 30 minutes of 1+1 Bullet
The 5+3 carries 3 points for a win and 1.5 points for a draw. The 3+2 carries 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. The 1+1 carries 1 point for a win and .5 point for a draw.
