Chris Beckett dominated the Winter Rapids tournament last night to win with a 100 per cent score.
The top seed and former club champion scored a perfect 5/5 to finish a point clear of the field in the first event of this year’s Four-Seasons Rapidplay series.
Denis Dupuis and Philipp Even (both 4/5) ended the night in the runners-up spot.
The Winter Rapids saw 21 participants including several juniors and new faces taking part and a welcome return to action for long-time member Howard Groves.
Among them was Emils Steiners – a promising youngster rated 96 who found himself on board 1 against Chris in the final round.
