It’s the 10th event before our big bughouse finale – the Battersea Variants series of tournaments is reaching its final stages, and this is your last chance to get an individual medal.

Infiltration Chess is super simple to understand because all about, you guessed it, infiltrating key squares.

The squares we are talking about are the royal squares, d1, e1, d8 and e8. Get on one of your opponent’s royal squares and you’ve won.

After this, the Battersea Variants will be rounded off with a special bughouse night – more on that later

Any member can enter Infiltration Chess and you do not need to have played in any previous Battersea Variants events. The tournament starts as normal from 6.15pm on May 10 – but to secure your place you need to get to the club by 6pm or square it with Aldo beforehand.

The details of Infiltration Chess are below:

Format

  • 20 Players or less.
  • 5 Rounds
  • Swiss Pairing
  • 5+2 blitz

Rules

Normal chess rules apply. The game can be won by normal means or when a player lands any piece legally on either of the opponent’s royal squares. So that’s d1, e1 and d8, e8 respectively.
