Battersea Chess Club kicked off 2020 last night with more than 50 people at its weekly meeting, a Battersea derby, a London League match and a visit from a film crew.
Battersea CLL1 took on Battersea CLL2 in the top division of the Central London League while the Battersea Dogs faced Hammersmith Hodgson in the London League.
The club also welcomed a film crew for a Chinese channel to interview CM Shreyas Royal – more on that later – and several new players.
In total, there were around 50 players in attendance making it one of the busiest nights for some time.
This week three more Battersea teams are in action with Battersea 3 taking on Athenaeum in the London League on Wednesday along with Battersea Cats vs Hackney 4.
Then on Thursday, Battersea 1 play Cavendish.
