Battersea’s teams in the 2019 Summer Chess League have got off to a storming start after the first two rounds.
Four out of Battersea’s five entries in the summer-long league held at our venue are currently unbeaten.
Reigning division 1 champions Battersea Horses are leading the pack having beaten StreatsAhead in week 1 and then new entries The Pawn Ultimatum in week 2.
In division 2, The Dogs of Battersea are also unbeaten despite being a last-minute entry into the competition.

Battersea Colts, like the Horses captained by Blair Connell, are also competing in division 2 and have won one and lost one.
And in division 3, the Battersea Pawnbreakers, captained by Tim Valentine, are joint top just above Chris Rebbeck’s The Lavender Hill Mob who have won one and drawn one.
This Tuesday is a break in the league schedule for the club’s Summer Rapids event before the league resumes on July 2.
